About MasterCard Credit Card


Zenith offers three basic credit cards namely: the Classic, Gold and Platinum.



arrow No collateral is required.
arrow Card is attached to an approved line of credit.
arrow Settlement options of 30%, 50% or all of expended amount on due date
arrow The unsettled portion of the expended amount starts to accrue interest thereafter (2% on Retail balance outstanding)
arrow Interest charge on Cash Withdrawals starts from the date of the transaction
arrow Monthly fees is $5 for all cards, while penal charges will apply in case of any default
arrow Risk Assessment Form (RAF) and Credit Approval Form (CAF) need be completed.
arrow POI/Channels: POS, ATM, Internet, Telephone and also Card to Card for Visa cards only
arrow 24hrs online access to transaction history.
arrow Monthly statement available.

Description of MasterCard Credit Card:

arrow The cards are issued against a credit line approved by the Bank for the customer. No collateral is required.
arrow Cards can be used on Point of Interaction (POI) such as Point of Sales (POSs), ATMs, Telephone or on the Internet. Card to card funds transfer is available on Visa cards.
arrow Partial or full repayment of amount spent is allowed.
arrow For Visa Credit Cards, customers can settle in Naira for transactions done locally in Nigeria.
arrow Unpaid balance attracts interest charges.
arrow Risk Assessment Forms (RAF) and Credit Approval Forms (CAF) must be completed and approved by the Account Officer and the Branch Head respectively
arrow Credit cards are issued as Classic, Gold or Platinum depending on the approved limit based on customer’s credit rating.
arrow Final approval is subject to the bank’s Credit Approval process which is a combination of Branch


Channels on which the Credit Card can be used:

arrow On the Internet: here the cardholder supplies his information online by providing his details as requested.
arrow On an ATM machine: You can use your MasterCard/Visa card on Zenith Banks’ ATM to make withdrawals, check balance e.t.c
arrow On a P.O.S terminal: It can be used in a shop that accepts MasterCard and Visa as a means of payment. Here the cardholder would swipe his card on the POS terminal available in the shop and supply his PIN no. as the case may be and enter the amount he wants to pay for. A receipt would be issued to him at the end of his transaction

About MasterCard SecureCode



What is MasterCard SecureCode?
MasterCard SecureCode is a new service to enhance your existing MasterCard account. A private code means added protection against unauthorized use of your card when you shop at participating online merchants.

How does MasterCard SecureCode work?
Once you've registered and created your own private SecureCode, you will be automatically prompted at checkout to provide your SecureCode each time you make a purchase with a participating online merchant. Your SecureCode is quickly confirmed by your financial institution and then your purchase is completed. Your SecureCode will never be shared with the merchant. It's just like entering your PIN at an ATM.

How does MasterCard SecureCode protect me?

When you correctly enter your SecureCode during a purchase at a participating online merchant, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is then completed. If an incorrect SecureCode is entered, the purchase will not be completed. Even if someone knows your credit or debit card number, the purchase cannot be completed without your SecureCode at a participating merchant.

What are the system requirements for MasterCard SecureCode?
MasterCard SecureCode works with most browsers. Please be advised that software which prevents pop-up windows may interfere with your use of SecureCode.

What card do I use? Will I need to get a new card to use MasterCard SecureCode?
You will be able to use any of your existing MasterCard credit or debit cards

How many cards can I register with MasterCard SecureCode?
We encourage you to register all of your MasterCard cards. There is no limit on how many cards you can register.

Where can I shop with MasterCard Secure Code?
You can shop at participating online merchant. You can also shop non- participating merchants, however you are still protected.

How do I know whether a merchant participates in SecureCode?
Most participating merchants will display the MasterCard SecureCode logo on their site. However, even if you don't see the SecureCode logo, the merchant may still be a participant and you will be prompted to provide your SecureCode at checkout.

How will the online merchant know that I'm registered for MasterCard SecureCode?
When you use a card that is enrolled in the MasterCard SecureCode program at participating online merchants, the merchant automatically recognizes your MasterCard card number during the transaction.

What happens when I use my SecureCode at a participating merchant?
There is no need to login or sign in. When you make a purchase at a participating merchant and enter your registered MasterCard payment details, you will automatically be prompted to enter your SecureCode. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that your Personal Greeting is correct, simply type in your SecureCode to complete your purchase.

What is a Personal Greeting?
The Personal Greeting is a message that you create during sign-up. Each time you make an online purchase at a participating merchant, you will be prompted to enter your SecureCode. At this time, you'll see your Personal Greeting and other purchase details. The Personal Greeting is your assurance that you are communicating with your financial institution. If the Personal Greeting displayed in the pop-up box is incorrect, you should not enter your SecureCode, but should instead contact Customer Service immediately by calling the phone number on the back of your MasterCard card, to report a possible fraud.

How will SecureCode change the online purchase process?
The online purchase process will not change except that now you will be prompted to provide your SecureCode during checkout. Your SecureCode will never be revealed to the merchant during the checkout process.

Will I be able to make purchases at merchants that accept MasterCard but do not participate in the MasterCard SecureCode program?
Yes, you will not be asked for your SecureCode during these purchases. You will continue to be protected from unauthorized purchases.

How is SecureCode different from Zero Liability?
Using MasterCard SecureCode provides added security to prevent your card from unauthorized use, and Zero Liability provides coverage if your card has been used fraudulently.

Please read through the Terms and conditions when enrolling your card for the SecureCode service.
