ZENITH BANK EMERGES BEST BANK IN GHANA
Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Zenith Bank Plc has emerged Ghana’s Best Bank for the year 2008 at that country’s annual banking awards held in Accra, the nation’s capital, Saturday May 9, 2009.
The bank also emerged first runner-up in two other categories namely Growing Bank and Best Short Term Financing and second runner-up in Retail Banking.
The award, according to the organizers of the event: Corporate Initiative Ghana in collaboration with Association of Ghana Chambers of Commerce is awarded to the bank with the highest weighted scores for customer survey, corporate social responsibility and financial performance.
Data for the awards were collected by the reputable research institution Messrs KPMG while the ceremony itself drew together the best minds in the industry with the Governor Bank of Ghana as the special guest and keynote speaker.
The awards instituted eight years ago have become a veritable tool for engendering healthy competition among banks operating in the country.
The feat by the Zenith Ghana, seen by industry watchers as a re-enactment of the parent company’s (Zenith Bank Plc’s) strong profile and culture of excellence, represents a wide acceptance of the Zenith brand in the Ghanaian financial services sector.
Zenith Bank Ghana Limited was incorporated in April 2005 under the country’s Banking Act 2004 as a private limited liability company and commenced universal banking operation in September 2005.
Since then, the bank has consistently excited the Ghanaian banking public with uniquely customized financial products and services that cater to the different segments of the country’s consuming public.
Such products include; Church Premium Account, a customized package for churches which provides same with cash handling and management and other personalised financial services; Zenith pay Advance Salary Scheme with an automatic feature of meeting the financial requirements of salaried employees and Zenith Investment Plan Account, designed to build up financial resources for future use, among others.
